Meeting Sasha Stiles

A selfie with Sasha Stiles, taken at the opening of her poems/artworks, at the Bang & Olufsen store, Spring Street, New York, 4 April 2024

While in New York, it was fantastic to meet, for the first time, the brilliant Sasha Stiles, when I attended the packed opening of her digital poems/artworks at the Bang & Olufsen store on Spring Street. She is one of the leaders for using AI in poetry artworks. I love how she has a distinctive style that has the capacity for subtle and fascinating variations. Her use of colour is also worth mentioning: the trademark Sasha Stiles green has us swimming around in her other-worldly spaces. When she does use other colours, like her fierce red, the departure makes them all the more effective. A big bonus at the event was meeting and chatting with Alison Knowles, a founding member of Fluxus. She remembered her visit to Leicester organised by Nicholas Zurbrugg, a colleague at De Montfort University and a wonderful friend, at the end of the 1990s.
